At Nomad Internet, we’ve had the privilege of working with multiple major network providers, each playing a role in helping us deliver high-speed wireless internet to underserved and remote communities. Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on one of those partners — T-Mobile — and share a broader perspective on what we’ve learned, where we’re headed, and what ultimately drives our decisions as a technology company focused on innovation and customer impact.
T-Mobile: The Speed Leader
Let’s start by giving credit where it’s due. T-Mobile has been — and continues to be — a valuable partner to Nomad. Their ability to offer exceptional download speeds, particularly when paired with devices like the Inseego modems, is something we’ve consistently appreciated. These modems, when operating on T-Mobile’s network, routinely deliver speeds in the 400 to 500 Mbps range, giving our customers a fast, fluid online experience even in locations where traditional broadband falls short.
When it comes to sheer speed at an affordable price point, T-Mobile has set the bar high. It’s something I talk about regularly — even with our contacts at Verizon — because speed matters. Performance matters. But in our world, performance is only part of the equation.
The Deeper Meaning of Partnership
In the wireless space, a true partnership is defined by more than just performance metrics or cost per gigabyte. It’s about collaboration, mutual investment, and a shared vision for the future.
That’s where Verizon has truly stepped up. Beyond price and performance, Verizon has shown an unmatched willingness to work side-by-side with us, not just as a carrier, but as a partner in innovation. They’ve supplied us with custom hardware — including the Nomad Dragon modems — at no cost, recognizing our mutual interest in creating better solutions for rural and mobile connectivity.
More importantly, Verizon has opened their platform to us in a way that most carriers never do. They’ve given us direct access to their engineering and product development teams, enabling us to co-create meaningful enhancements such as a Nomad-specific hotspot captive portal, a feature that allows us to manage guest access and branding in powerful ways.
Just today, we were on a call with top senior engineers from Verizon’s ThinkSpace team, mapping out the infrastructure we need to support FreeNomad.com, our groundbreaking new program that gives free internet access to businesses and communities across the country. Verizon isn’t just supporting this initiative — they’re actively shaping it alongside us.
A Shift in Focus
Make no mistake: We still value our relationship with T-Mobile. They remain an important part of our technology stack, and we intend to continue working with them. But as we look toward the future, our focus is increasingly aligned with partners who are willing to co-innovate, not just supply bandwidth.
Verizon, through both action and investment, has earned our confidence in that regard. And so, for at least the next few quarters — and likely beyond — our emphasis will remain on building deeper integrations and greater customer impact through our collaboration with Verizon.
Why This Matters
We believe the future of internet access in America will be shaped by companies that are willing to reimagine what’s possible. That means pushing the boundaries of what technology can do, yes — but also finding partners who understand our mission and are willing to help bring it to life.
For Nomad, that mission is clear: to close the digital divide and bring powerful, reliable, and innovative wireless internet to the people who need it most. And we can only do that when our partners are willing to open doors, share resources, and build something new — together.
So while we continue to support and celebrate the value T-Mobile brings to our ecosystem, we want to publicly recognize Verizon for their ongoing commitment to our shared goals.
Thank you for believing in what we’re building.
Warm regards,
Jaden Garza
